Mathew Holz was bought up with Australian Stock Horses. His family has been involved with the Australian Stock Horse Society and have been keen competitors and influential breeders of the breed for decades. Mat alone has won 3 National Futurites, 2 Maturities and placed in the top 3 on 4 separate occasions. Gavins Lisa was the first horse to win the Futurity one year and go onto to claim the Maturity title the next. Mat has shown stock horses and campdrafted all his life. In 1994 he and his well performed mare Nevlyn Dawn finalled in the Warwick Gold Cup.Mat and Dawn also claimed several Champion Working titles, Open Challenges and she retired an Open Campdraft horse.

Another of the Holz's well known horses Nevlyn Joseph was drafted by Mat. He won numerous campdrafts including the Stallion Draft at the Scone ASH Nationals. Joseph retired to stud an Open horse.

Mat now takes on outside breakers, show horses or campdraft horses, and he and Tristan continue to compete their Stock horses in showing and drafting.

Tristan Starr was bought up in country South Australia. She has been involved with horses most of her life and knew her career would have to involve them in some way. She applied to do a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Sydney University, always knowing her interest was in Artificial Breeding Technologies and Animal Reproduction. During her Bachelor she specialised in Animal Nutrition, Animal Behaviour, Microbiology, Animal Genetics and Animal Reproduction. In her last year of uni she completed a thesis in Dog Behaviour, as well as majoring in Animal Reproductive technologies. Her paper was published the next year in the Veterinary Journal and the results were released at The World Working Dog Conference.

Since completing university Tristan has worked with and observed some of Australia's most well respected Reproductive Vets and AI Technicians. She worked for Richard Bull at Tamarang, which gave her enormous exposure to the Equine Breeding Industry and Breeding Technology. During her time at Tamarang Tristan gained extensive experience and knowledge from Richard himself, Al Simpson and the resident vets. John Chopin, Angus McKinnon and Peter Cakebread have all contributed to Tristan's knowledge and dedication.

ALAB was established in 2009 after Tristan and Mat bought their property in West Gippsland. They run the Stallion & AI Center during the breeding season and break-in, train and compete their own and clients horses all year round.
